Dear fellow ASPE members:
I regret to inform you that due to the Coronavirus, we are cancelling the March meeting. An ounce of prevention can go a long way...please maintain sanitary practices (hand washing), and hopefully we can return to normal life very soon.
Next month we are pleased to have Brian Helms with Charlotte Pipe, to instruct us with a hands-on demonstration of
cast iron piping, a great opportunity to combine your design knowledge with understanding of installation techniques.
CPD exam registration is open. If you plan on taking the exam this year, please register as soon as possible.
Remember that ASPE is your resource, and your responsibility. There is precious few organizations dedicated to the practice of Plumbing Engineering, and the opportunity to give and receive knowledge, as well as interact with industry peers, begins with our chapter. Your participation might impact the future of plumbing engineering in ways you cannot imagine.

Dear fellow ASPE members:
As we are faced with the concern of the new Coronavirus known as COVID-19, I feel it is important to speak to this topic with all our members from the DC chapter. We do not take this matter lightly. Rather we encourage every member in our chapter to follow the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The goal is to limit exposure potentials for all the members and their families.
So far, we have no received any notifications regarding any members from the chapter with the virus, and it is our desire to keep it that way.
As many of you already know we will not have a chapter meetng this month. Also, for those of you who are taking the CPD exam this year,
dates have been moved. Please check your emails and junk mail in case you haven’t seen any notifications yet from ASPE.
Also, this is the link in regards to the CPD exam: https://www.aspe.org/cpdexamcovid19
I also want to spend a moment to talk about basic and simple hygiene practices that, according to the CDC, we can all practice to help each other maintain a level of potential protection against the spread of any and all viruses, including COVID-19:
· Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap is not available with at least
· Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or cloth when you sneeze or cough
· Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
I want to thank all of you for the caution and preparedness you display at home and in the workplace regarding this matter and remember-
“The shrewd one sees the danger and conceals himself”.
Finally, we would like to welcome Nikolay Irinchev to our DC Chapter.

Hello ASPE DC Chapter Members,
We had a great turnout for our topic on The Importance of Hydraulic Calculation, presented by Professor Ken Isman. Our new
space worked fairly well, maybe a little bit noisier than we would like but we’ll work with it through the remainder of this year
and reevaluate for next year. Hope to food (and beer) choices were to everyone’s liking, I enjoyed it!
Look for more information about virtual meetings for April and May coming up in the April Newletter.
