President's Report

Dear fellow ASPE members:

Happy New Year! It is the time of year we all give a thought to how we can improve ourselves. This year, I challenge everyone to get involved in our Chapter. Attending monthly meetings and technical presentations, planning social events, getting involved in mentoring upcoming engineers, or helping to tackle the future regulatory challenges of our industry... there are many avenues in which your talents are needed. I hope you will consider using your gifts for the benefit of us all and invite your participation.

This month we are pleased to Have Chip Matthews, WSSC Cross Connection Section Manager, to instruct us on Cross Connection Control! This is a must attend event, and I am looking forward to seeing you on January 21!

If you are thinking about taking the CPD exam, or someone in your office should be, our Chapter, along with Baltimore Chapter, is providing a CPD Review Class, instructed by our very own David Bailey, CPD, GPD, FASPE, on Saturday, February 1, 2020.  Please register as soon as possible.

Remember that ASPE is your resource, and your responsibility. There is precious few organizations dedicated to the practice of Plumbing Engineering, and the opportunity to give and receive knowledge, as well as interact with industry peers, begins with our chapter. Your participation might impact the future of plumbing engineering in ways you cannot imagine.

Membership Report

Dear friends and valuable ASPE members:

Many of you are setting goals for this year 2020, and it is a good thing. However, always consider that if personal goals are not reasonable, they can be most discouraging. Remember that goals must be set according to what one is able to accomplish. Everyone is different, physically and emotionally. Therefore, we cannot expect to be able to accomplish something just because someone else does.

What are your goals for this year? perhaps, study for the CPD exam? or is it your goal for this year to attend regularly to the ASPE monthly meetings and benefit from the information presented there? if so, plan ahead and see if this is reasonable for you with your current circumstances. If you have concerns or questions let us know and we see how we can help.

The members of the ASPE DC chapter are invited to attend the free CPD review class next February 1, 2020: https://aspedc.org/meetinginfo.php?id=16&ts=1573227701
